About the research group
------------------------
The Software Engineering & Architecture (SEARCH) unit at the University
of Groningen is one of the leading research groups in the field
of software architecture. The group carries out
joint research projects with universities, research institutes, and
industrial partners, thus combining academic know-how with industrial
practice. The research topics of the SEARCH group include software
architecture design and evaluation, architectural knowledge,
architectural patterns and pattern languages, architecture-centric
evolution, service-oriented architectures and software product lines.

Area: Architecting Software as Service

Project description:
In a Software as Service (SaS) approach, a provider can realize and
maintain business processes efficiently, that can be used by different
consumers. The research project aims to offer a software engineering
approach to build and maintain SaS platforms in the domain of local
e-Government, emphasizing on offering powerful configuration
possibilities. This process will leverage a number of disciplines and
technologies:
- Quality-driven architecting to ensure the satisfaction of critical
Quality Attributes.
- Variability management to handle configuration at the three
aforementioned levels.
- Model-driven development at the business, architecture and services level.
A pilot in the application of health care for local e-Government in the
Netherlands will be the testbed for the technologies developed in the
project. The consortium includes industrial partners and local
government end users.

Required profile
----------------
- You should have a PhD in computer science, preferably with a strong
background in software engineering and software architecting.
- You are expected to have an excellent academic record (experience and
publications), be curious, creative and ambitious.
- You should be fluent in English.
- You should have affinity to research with an industrial focus, be a
team player, open-minded and actively participate in knowledge sharing.
Conditions of employment
------------------------
The University of Groningen offers a salary up to a maximum of € 3755,-
gross per month for a full-time job, depending on
the level of appointment, qualifications and work experience. The
university also offers 8 % holiday allowance, and participation in a
pension scheme for government employees. The appointment is on a
temporary basis for a period of 2 years. The position is immediately
available
and will be open until a suitable candidate is found.
