First Call for Papers
FOCLASA 2010:
The 9th International Workshop on
the Foundations of Coordination Languages and Software Architectures
http://foclasa.lcc.uma.es/
September 4, 2010. Paris, France
**********************************************************************
FOCLASA 2010 is a satellite workshop of the 21st International Conference on Concurrency Theory (CONCUR'2010).
It provides a venue where researchers and practitioners on the topics given below can meet, exchange ideas and problems, identify some of the key and fundamental issues related to coordination languages and software architecture, and explore together and disseminate solutions.
FOCLASA 2010 invites the submission of technical papers in any of the topics of interest and areas listed below.
* Theoretical models
(coordination, component and service composition, concurrency, semantics, expressiveness)
* Specification, refinement, and analysis of software systems
(architectures, patterns and styles, languages, logics, verification of functional and non-functional properties)
* Languages for interaction, coordination, architectures, and interface definition
(implementation, inter-operability, heterogeneity)
* Dynamic software architectures
(mobile agents, self-organizing/adaptive/reconfigurable systems)
* Tools and environments for the development of applications.
In particular, practice, experience and methodologies from the following areas are solicited as well:
* Web Services and Business Processes
* Coordination and Composition of Services
* Multi-agent Systems
* Peer-to-peer Systems
* Grid Computing
* Component-based System
* Large-scale Distributed Systems
Submissions must describe authors' original research work and their results.
Description of work-in-progress with concrete results is also encouraged.
The contributions should not exceed 15 pages formatted according to the style of the Electronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science (EPTCS), and should be submitted as Portable Document Format (PDF) files using the EasyChair submission site: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=foclasa2010 .
Invited Speaker
Maarten van Steen, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Important Dates
* Abstract submission: May 21st, 2010
* Paper submission: May 28th, 2010
* Notification: June 25th, 2010
* Final version due: July 15th, 2010
* Workshop: September 4th, 2010
Submitting an abstract does not put any obligation on the authors to submit a full paper.
Abstracts without an accompanying full paper by the paper submission deadline are automatically considered withdrawn; the authors are, however, encouraged to explicitly withdraw their abstract, if they decide not to submit a full paper.
All submissions will be reviewed by an international program committee who will make a selection among the submissions based on the novelty, soundness and applicability of the presented ideas and results.
Concurrent submission to other venues (conferences, workshops or journal) and submission of papers under consideration elsewhere are not allowed.
A printed version of the proceedings will be distributed among participants during the workshop.
The proceedings of the workshop will be published as a volume in the Electronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science (EPTCS) series.
Participants will give a presentation of their papers in twenty minutes, followed by a ten-minute round of questions and discussion on participants' work.
Following the tradition of the past edition, a special issue of an international scientific journal will be devoted to FOCLASA 2010.
Selected participants will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers after the workshop.
These extended versions will be reviewed by an international program committee, which will decide on their final publication on the special issue.
In the last few editions of FOCLASA, a special issue of Science of Computer Programming has been dedicated to this workshop and we plan to devote a special issue of the same journal to FOCLASA 2010.
