O V E R V I E W

The IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference series (RE) is
the premier international forum for researchers, educators, practitioners
and students to present and discuss the latest innovations, trends,
experiences and concerns in the field of Requirements Engineering.

RE'11 will take place in Trento, Italy, a cosmopolitan city set in a
spectacular mountain scenery, and home to a world-class university
and research centers.

In a world where change has become the only constant, requirements
evolve continuously and inevitably. They do so for a variety of reasons:
users become ever mode demanding, organizations mutate, business
opportunities come
and go, new laws and regulations appear, technologies develop, and so on.

As systems grow ever bigger and more complex, are developed globally and
become more interconnected, the impacts of changes are harder to analyze
and control. In these settings, ensuring that software will continue to
exhibit its intended properties thus becomes trickier. More challenges
are also imposed by new development paradigms (e.g. agile methods and
software product lines) and the increasing demand for specific qualities
such as security and self-adaptation.

Efficient management of change in the broad diversity of Requirements
Engineering (RE) contexts and across the whole RE process continuously
calls for novel research ideas. For this reason, the 19th IEEE
International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE'11) specifically
encourages submissions that address requirements change and evolution.

RE'11 will nevertheless remain true to its tradition and invites papers
that address all facets of RE, from elicitation to validation, from
formal to informal, from large to small, and across people-centric,
business-centric and system-centric viewpoints.

We invite original submissions of high quality papers in the following
categories:

R E S E A R C H   T R A C K

* Technical solution papers - present solutions for requirements-related
problems that are novel or significantly improve on existing solutions.

* Scientific evaluation papers - evaluate existing problem situations
or validate/refute proposed solutions with scientific means, i.e. by
empirical studies, experiments, case studies, simulations, formal
analyses, mathematical proofs, etc.

* Visionary papers  - explore the history, successes, and challenges for
various requirements related practices and research agendas, and outline
research roadmaps for the future.

I N D U S T R Y   C O N T R I B U T I O N S

* Problem statements - present problems or challenges encountered in practice.

* Experience reports - present successes or failures encountered in practice.

RE'11 also invites proposals for tutorials, workshops, panels, doctoral
