Special Session on Unified Multimedia Knowledge Representation and Processing
in conjunction with
7th Hellenic Conference on Artificial Intelligence - SETN 2012

May 28-31, 2012, Lamia, Greece

One of the most interesting problems in the field of multimedia applications is the semi- or fully automatic interpretation of content, in order to detect semantically meaningful concepts, actions and processes. Especially in the current era of massive multimedia content generation derived from users and their social networks interactivity, the need for efficient multimedia knowledge representation and processing methodologies seems more important than ever. The use of so-called mid-level information, such as i) knowledge obtained from the application of supervised or unsupervised learning methodologies on low-level characteristics, ii) knowledge obtained from user interaction and relevance feedback together with intelligent content personalization procedures and iii) additional sources of peripheral knowledge like geo-tags and user-generated tagging information, aids towards disambiguation of multimedia content. This special session calls for integrative research papers foc!
using on unified multimedia knowledge representation and processing, combining all kinds of meta-information (visual, textual, geo-, et al.) in an efficient manner. We particularly welcome papers that explore interaction between intelligent local and global classification techniques, exploit both types of visual and contextual knowledge within the multimedia processing chain and investigate potential media unification approaches in the sense of tagging/geo-tagging information blended together with pure still or moving multimedia content.

Important dates for SETN 2012:
Submission of full papers: January 20, 2012
