The School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester invites
applications for tenure-track faculty positions at junior and senior
level. Three positions in Computer Engineering and Systems Research are
available.

The applicants will join the Advanced Processor Technologies (APT
http://apt.cs.manchester.ac.uk) research group. The APT group is
internationally leading in computer engineering and systems research and
is currently engaged in the construction of SpiNNaker
(http://apt.cs.man.ac.uk/projects/SpiNNaker/), a novel architecture
massively parallel computer designed by the group from the silicon
upwards (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhPpxsK2Ia0 &
http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/MSPEC.2012.6247562). The group will lead the
construction of many-core hardware for the recently announced Human
Brain Project (http://www.humanbrainproject.eu/), an EU funded FET
Flagship programme. The group is also leading the PAMELA project, a
5-year EPSRC programme grant that will investigate how to design and use
heterogeneous many-core systems.

Applicants should be internationally leading in any aspect of computer
engineering, computer architecture, or computer systems research and
should be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching. Higher
priority will be given to the overall originality, vision and potential
long term impact of the applicant’s research than the area of
specialization. Examples of research areas include System-on-Chip and
Network-on-Chip technologies; computer communications; virtualization;
energy optimisation and embedded systems; reconfigurable computing; and
many-core systems including operating systems, compilers, hardware
architecture, and memory hierarchy.
