We are pleased to invite you to attend the 12th ACM SIGPLAN/SIGOPS Conference on Virtual Execution Environments (VEE'16). Virtualization has a central role in modern systems. It constitutes a key aspect in a wide range of environments, from small mobile computing devices to large-scale data centers and computational clouds. Virtualization techniques encompass all the layers of a platform from the underlying hardware and operating system to programming languages and runtime systems. Although these layers have different design and implementation techniques, the fundamental challenges and insights tend to be similar.
This year's VEE continues its tradition of providing a forum for researchers and practitioners to interact, share ideas, and discuss the latest work on virtualization. The conference brings together people from different domains of computer science, from the top of the software stack down to the micro-architectural level. In addition to the 13 accepted papers, the VEE'16 program includes two keynote presentations by Ada Gavrilovska (Georgia Tech) and Kathryn McKinley (Microsoft Research).  This year's program also includes a panel discussion on the state of virtualization. We are happy to present the community with a strong program (http://conf.researchr.org/track/vee-2016/Program) covering a wide range of virtualization topics.
As in previous years, VEE '16 is co-located with ASPLOS 2016, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia. VEE '16 will be held concurrently with the ASPLOS 2016 workshops on April 2-3, 2016.
