Call for Papers for the 1st International Workshop

Software Engineering Aspects of Optimizing Systems (SEAOS 2018)

http://www.enase.org/SEAOS.aspx

a Satellite Event of ENASE 2018, Funchal, Madeira - Portugal -- March 23-24, 2018
=======================================================================

=== Important Dates ===

- Paper Submission: January 11, 2018
- Author Notification: January 25, 2018
- Camera Ready and Registration: February 2, 2018

=== Description ===

Optimization techniques are adopted, for example, in scheduling, planning (airports, production), tuning, allocation (HPC), resource optimization (energy), routing (communication), synthesis (decision support, auto-design, machine learning), search (big-data, auto-design), reliability (sensor fusion, configuration), classification (security, pattern recognition), etc. The companies which develop such systems generally market families of products. Software engineering aspects such as reducing complexity, enhancing reusability, adaptability, reliability, performance, etc. can be considered essential if economic development and maintenance of such systems have to be assured. Relatively much less attention has been paid by the SE community to consider SE aspects of software systems with embedded optimization techniques. This workshop aims at specifying, assessing and improving software engineering (SE) aspects of software systems which incorporate optimization techniques.

=== Topics ===

SE engineering techniques dedicated for improving SE aspects of systems embedding optimization techniques by using, for example:

* Automated design and search based methods including solver-based techniques;
* Patterns;
* Domain-specific architectures, etc.
* Product-Line engineering
* Domain-specific languages;
* Context-oriented, aspect-oriented and feature-oriented languages
* Reflective techniques
* Domain modeling
* Model-driven engineering
* Self-tuning
* Auto-adaptive systems
* Machine-learning

=== Workshop Format ===

This is a one-day workshop programmed as a mixture of a keynote talk, submitted paper presentations and interactive sessions.

=== Submissions ===

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics listed above.
Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex formats) are available at:
