The Simple-ML project at the University of Bonn offers a postdoc and two
PhD student positions from January 2019 to July 2021. Candidates will
get payed according to TVL E-13, depending on their experience (see [1, 2]).
The Simple-ML project is dedicated to the development of a domain
specific language for machine learning. We seek committed and
enthusiastic candidates with a strong background in Model Driven Sofware
Engineering, especially the design and implementation of domain specific
languages. Experience with tools such as Eclipse EMF, Xtext, Sirius,
Acceleo, or Xpand would be much appreciated. Candidates with additional
experience in Machine Learning (ML) will be given priority. Candidates
without ML experience should be willing to dive deeply into the ML domain.
The SDA (Smart Data Analytics) group at the University of Bonn, lead by
Prof. Jens Lehmann, is one of the leading Data Science research groups.
The Software Engineering for Data Science group within SDA is dedicated
to extending software engineering concepts and tools to cover the
special requirements of data science. See http://sda.tech for more about
us.
You will be working in an international setting with colleagues from
more than 10 different countries. English is our working language.
Still, the two Simple-ML PhD candidates must also have a very good
command of German, since offical project reports must be written in
German due to the project being funded by the German Ministry
for Education and Research.
Applications should be addressed by e-mail to Dr. Günter Kniesel
<gk at cs.uni-bonn.de>, including
- a CV,
- a master certificate,
- a motivation letter including a short overview of previous research
activities
- a writing sample (e.g. a PDF of your master thesis or of an own
publication)
- and optionally two letters of recommendation (or the name of
references who can provide those).
Applications are possible until all positions have been filled.
Please do not send mails larger than 10MB.
