<p><br>Introduction</p>
<p>Embedded software and systems are closely related to our daily life, which <br>reside from smart appliances to unmanned trains. As the fastest growing <br>industry, embedded systems will have great societal and environmental impacts.<br>
Therefore, the design and implementation of safe and efficient embedded <br>software and systems have utmost importance. </p>
<p>The 8th IEEE International Conference on Embedded Software and Systems (IEEE <br>ICESS-11) will be held in Changsha, China in November 16-18, 2011. It follows<br>the success of IEEE ICESS-10 in Bradford, United Kingdom. The goal of IEEE <br>
ICESS-11 is to provide a forum for scientists, engineers and researchers to<br>discuss and exchange novel ideas, results, experiences and work-in-progress<br>on all aspects of embedded software and systems.</p>

<p><br>Submission and Publication Information</p>
<p>The accepted papers from this conference will be published by IEEE Computer<br>Society in IEEE proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP). Papers <br>should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference <br>
format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the <br>paper submission system at the conference website. Each paper is limited <br>to 8 pages (or 12 pages with the over length charge). Distinguished papers,<br>
after further revisions, will be published in two special issues to be <br>indexed by SCI and EI. The program committee will select two winners for <br>the Best Paper Awards for this conference. Submitting a paper to the <br>
conference means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should<br>attend the conference and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers<br>will be removed from the IEEE Computer Society digital library after the <br>
conference and their affiliations will be notified. </p>
