Ubiquitous Multimedia Services<br><br>Scope<br>Today with the fast developments
in electronics industry and the amazing<br>growing of the potential customers,
media are increasingly ubiquitous: more<br>and more people live in a world of
Internet pop-ups and streaming<br>television, mobile phone texting and video
clips, etc. The future trend of<br>media-aware contents available in anywhere
and anytime is to be more smart<br>and interactive. Thus, the design of smart
and interactive ubiquitous<br>multimedia devices (SIUMS) has drawn substantial
attention from the research<br>community by considering the aspects of
ubiquitous networking, ambient<br>intelligence, embedded multimedia systems, and
smart environments. It is<br>intended to be a novel efficient and effective
component for the Internet of<br>Things, and will greatly impact everyone’s life
in every facet, including<br>entertainment, socialization, business, healthcare
and education.<br><br>The goal of this issue is to bring together the state of
the art research<br>contributions that focus on networking and communication
aspects for<br>enabling SIUMS. Contributions are invited from prospective
authors with<br>interests in the indicated special issue topics and related
areas of<br>application. All contributions should be high quality, original
and<br>unpublished elsewhere or submitted for publication during the review
period.<br>Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:<br><br>•
