<pre>FACULTY POSITION AT THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATICS, PUC-Rio, Brazil
The Department of Informatics at PUC-Rio, Brazil, has opened two faculty positions to be filled in 2014.
PUC-Rio is notably a private university that offers a privileged environment for research, development, and innovation. It features an agreeable and well-located campus, an agile administration, and both undergraduate and graduate courses that have traditionally attracted excellent students. In particular, the Department of Informatics (DI – Departamento de Informática, in Portuguese) at PUC-Rio has maintained since its creation a strong and continuous position of leadership in research. Among its faculty we find pioneers in Computer Science in Brazil, whose activity inspired professors that have joined the faculty in the last decades and who are also pioneers in the creation and development of several subcommunities of scientific interest in the country.
In today’s globalized and diversified world, levels of excellence are established in relation to the performance of the world’s best. Such is the meaning of the highest score accorded by CAPES[1] to DI/PUC-Rio since the establishment of the graduate programs evaluation, over 12 years ago. This result reflects the international performance levels achieved by this Department.
The desired profile of a professor at DI/PUC-Rio is characterized by:
· relevant scientific production;
· human resources formation at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
· development of research projects, funded both by government agencies and industry;
· national and international visibility;
· engagement in service to the university administration; and
. fluent knowledge of both Portuguese and English.
We invite excellent researchers interested in joining the faculty at DI/PUC-Rio to send via e-mail to <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:edital@inf.puc-rio.br">edital@inf.puc-rio.br</a> the following documents:
1. a 5-year research project (up to 5 pages);
2. a portfolio (up to 5 pages) with reflections on your professional and academic background, highlighting your 5 best works and justifying their relevance;
3. up-to-date Lattes Curriculum Vitae;
4. two or more letters of recommendation sent directly to the email of DI’s Head (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:diretor@inf.puc-rio.br">diretor@inf.puc-rio.br</a>), Prof. Hugo Fuks.
