Demo submissions must be based on an implemented and tested system that pursues one or more innovative ideas in the interest areas of the conference. These devices provide unprecedented ability to track, measure, monitor, and interact with our environment and other devices and individuals. These abilities are augmented with backend cloud- and server-based analysis to gain insight, detect trends, spur interaction, as well as identify and correct problems and keep the devices operational. The rate, specificity, and timeliness of data collection combined with the ongoing personal interaction with the systems make the data problem qualitatively different than the existing big data challenges. Reference to the Internet in this context relates to its transformational effect over closed proprietary systems, and its ability to enable a creative commons of innovation.
