"INFORMATICS AMONG THE SCIENCES - Scientific principles in Informatics"
The European Computer Science Summit (ECSS'2009), the annual conference of
Informatics Europe (http://www.informatics-europe.org), takes place in Paris
on OCTOBER 8-9, with a special workshop for new department chairs on Oct. 7.
ECSS 2009 is devoted to "Informatics among the Sciences - Scientific
in Informatics" and has an outstanding roster of speakers, including:
Joseph Sifakis (CNRS), 2007 ACM Turing Award winner
Wendy Hall (Southampton), president of the ACM
Alain Berthoz (Collège de France)
Alain Finkel (Cachan)
Georg Gottlob (Oxford)
Mark Harris (Intel)
Yrjö Neuvo (EIT)
Khalil Rouhana (European Commission)
Marko Tadic (Zagreb)
and others. ECSS 99 is chaired by Christine Choppy (University Paris 13)
and Antoine Petit (INRIA)
As a SPECIAL feature, ECSS 2009 will include on October 8 the launch of
ACM-EUROPE, with an award banquet honoring Turing Award winners, ACM fellows
and other European contributors to the advancement of computer science.
