Introduction
====================
Software quality involves a quality plan that sets out the desired product
qualities, the most significant quality attributes, the measurement process,
and how to make the assessment. The quality attributes are classified as:
Internal attributes and external quality attributes. Internal attributes are
those attributes that can be measured directly (e.g. cyclomatic complexity)
whereas the external ones are the higher level attributes that can be
quality objectives on their own (e.g. reliability). The difficulty lies in
relating what can be measured to the stated external quality attributes.
In a broader perspective, information modeling deals with the same problem.
The more abstract information characteristics (accuracy, relevance etc.) are
aimed to be represented in terms of low-level syntactic features that are
directly computable out of data. The corresponding representation methods
are called semantic analysis in the knowledge engineering area.
The question is can we define generic semantic analysis methods
(mathematical functions) so that they become applicable to software as well?
Software is knowledge as it contains data structures, instructions and
documentation. How can these different sources of knowledge can be fed into
the semantic analysis methods? What does software semantics actually mean?
=================
Aims and scope
=================
The primary goal of the workshop is to bring together experts in the fields
of knowledge and software engineering to discuss the commonalities and
differences in representing and evaluating high-level information
characteristics and software quality attributes respectively, determine the
potential for similar and complementary approaches, and establish a common
framework for this purpose. In addition to this, the workshop will provide a
platform for the formation of special interest groups to define and discuss
a joint research agenda and stimulate future developments.

Paper Submission
================
Every submitted paper will be carefully reviewed by at least three members
of the Program Committee. All accepted papers will be included in the
conference proceeding published by IEEE Press and will be included in the
IEEE Xplorer.
Prospective authors are invited to prepare full papers of no more than eight
(8) pages in IEEE double-column conference style. Papers must be submitted
to the paper submission website.
Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, if the paper
be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the
conference. Otherwise papers will be removed from IEEE digital library.
