announcement.)
The 2011 International Workshop on Multimedia Communications and Networking
(MultiCom 2011) is to be held in conjunction with IEEE ScalCom 2011
(http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/SCALCOM2011/index.php) between 31 August and 02
September 2011 in Pafos, Cyprus.
Scope
MultiCom 2011 (http://www-users.aston.ac.uk/~pengx1/MultiCom2011/) is dedicated
to address the challenges in the areas of delivering multimedia content using
modern communication and networking techniques. The workshop looks for
significant contributions to multimedia content encoding, network transfer, and
quality evaluation in theoretical and practical aspects. The multimedia &
networking computing domain emerges from the integration of multimedia content
such as audio and video with distribution technologies. This workshop aims to
cover contributions in both the design and analysis in the context of
multimedia, wired/wireless/heterogeneous networks, and quality evaluation. It
also intends to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and
industry to focus on advanced multimedia and networking performance analysis
concepts and establish new collaborations in these areas.
Authors may contribute to the workshop by submitting articles about the research
results, projects and industrial experiences that describe significant advances
in the following areas, but are not limited to:
• Mobile TV
• IPTV & Internet TV
• Video coding and processing
• Multimedia quality: Objective evaluation techniques
• Peer-to-peer multimedia streaming
• Multimedia quality: Subjective evaluation techniques
• Content adaptation and scaling
• Error resilience and concealment
• Channel modelling and simulation
• Erasure coding, modulation, multiplexing
• Video transmission in wireless networks
• Congestion control and rate adaptation
• Multimedia Broadcasting
• Multimedia content caching and distribution
• Cross-layer optimization
• Traffic monitoring and control
• Client playout buffer management
• Network structure, routing and resource management
Paper submission
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts reporting original unpublished
research and recent developments in the topics related to the workshop. The
length of the papers must not exceed 6 pages with two columns, single-spaced and
using 10 fonts. The IEEE Computer Society Proceedings template can be found at:
http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formattingPapers should be submitted
electronically in PDF format to EasyChair at:
https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=multicom2011
All papers will be peer reviewed and the comments will be provided to the
authors. The accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Computer Society in
the Proceedings of ScalCom 2011 (indexed by EI). At least one of the authors of
each accepted paper must register to attend the conference, in order for the
paper to appear in the conference proceedings.
Important dates
Submission deadline: Extended to April 22, 2011.
Notification of acceptance: May 17, 2011
Camera-ready paper due: May 27, 2011
