Call for Papers

FeBID 2011: The 6th Intl. Workshop on Feedback Control Implementation and
Design in Computing Systems & Networks
http://controlofsystems.org/febid2011/

June 14, 2011, Karlsruhe, Germany

Co-located with The 8th International Conference on Autonomic Computing
 (ICAC 2011) -- http://www.cis.fiu.edu/conferences/icac2011/

FeBID 2011 solicits original research papers on applying feedback control
theory to analyzing and designing computing systems, networks, and service,
such as those in data centers, enterprise systems, real-time systems,
embedded systems, sensor networks, and cyber-physical systems. The workshop
offers a unique opportunity for researchers and practitioners to discuss
recent and innovative results in the field. It is a forum to exchange ideas
and experiences on practical control system design and implementation and to
identify future directions and challenges in aligning feedback control
techniques with traditional performance analysis, modeling, and simulation.

FeBID seeks contributions on all aspects of system control. Topics of
interest include, but are not limited, to the following:
* Control engineering, modeling and mathematical optimization applications
to server, embedded and network systems, virtualized systems and cloud
computing design and implementation
* System control for resource management, power management, security,
performance, QoS, dependability, and fault-tolerance purposes
* Operating system, middleware, and programming language supports
* System support and architecture for feedback control loops
* Design of systems for controllability: sensor, actuator and control
algorithms
* Control models, methodologies, and paradigms for computing systems (e.g.
non-linear systems, discrete event systems, optimal control)

FeBID also seeks:
* Quantified or insightful experience with existing systems
* Reproduction or refutation of previous results
* Negative results
* Problem statement
* Early ideas

FeBID explicitly encourages members of the systems community to explore
leading-edge topics and ideas before they are presented at a major
conference. Two formats of contributions are welcome: regular papers (6
pages), and position papers (2 pages).

All submissions should be formatted according to the standard ACM
proceedings guidelines. Please see workshop website(
http://controlofsystems.org/febid2011/) for submission instructions.

There will be no copyright-transferred formal proceedings for the workshop
papers. Top selected papers will be invited for a special issue of an
archival journal (to be determined).

Important Dates:
Submission deadline: February 21st, 2011
Notification of acceptance: March 14th, 2011
Final paper due: April 15th, 2011
Workshop date: June 14th, 2011
