CALL FOR PAPERS
First Workshop on Architecting in Global Software Engineering
Helsinki, Finland, August 15, 2011
In conjunction with the 6th International Conference
on Global Software Engineering (ICGSE 2011)

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
---------------------
GSE has been mainly addressed from social issues focusing on concerns such as intercultural communication and coordination. A close analysis of the literature shows that the technical architecture design of GSD is not broadly addressed. Yet, architecting GSD systems is a challenging task. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners for defining and advancing the state-of-the-art and state-of-the practice in architecture design of global software development systems. The topics of the workshop can be listed as follows:
• Software Architecture Modeling of GSD
• Modeling Software Architectures for GSD
• Software Architecture Viewpoints for GSD
• Software Architecture Description Languages for GSD
• Software Architecture Patterns for GSD
• Documenting Software Architectures of GSD
• Architectural Requirements Analysis of GSD
• Analysis and evaluation of Software Architectures of GSD
• Quality Models for Software Architectures of GSD
• Tools for Designing and Analyzing GSD
• Experiences in Architecting GSD
• Managing architectural independencies in GSD teams
• Role of architecture in GSD project and process governance
• Architectural knowledge as control mechanism
• Sharing and using distributed architectural knowledge
• Approaches for early stages of architecture design in GSD projects
• Architectural styles and patterns for supporting GSD teams
• Cultural influence on architectural processes and artefacts
The scope of the workshop includes both the architecture design process and the impact of the architecture on the overall GSD process and system.

PAPER SUBMISSION
--------------------
We solicit the following types of submissions from both researchers and practitioners in the software architecture community:
• Long research papers - should describe original and significant results of research and/or industrial practice in software architecture.
Full papers are limited to 8 proceedings pages. Papers must not have been previously published nor submitted or under consideration elsewhere for publication.
• Extended abstracts - should describe original ideas from research and/or industrial practice, but are not required to show complete/evaluated results.
Extended abstract papers should not exceed 4 pages, and are tended to share and discuss ideas in their early stages.
Each submission will undergo a review by three members of the program committee. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper is required to
register for the workshop and to present the paper at the workshop.
Submissions must follow the IEEE conference proceedings format.
Please submit your contributions (in PDF) https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=agse2011.
Accepted papers will be published in the second volume of the conference proceedings.
