Overview **
The 2012 International Workshop on Mobile Cloud Computing Technologies
and Applications (MCCTA-2012) is a major forum for scientists, engineers,
and practitioners throughout the world to present the latest research,
results,
ideas, developments and applications in all areas of mobile cloud computing
technologies and applications. Recent advances in wireless
telecommunications
and mobile cloud computing have dramatically changed the modern business
environment and daily human life. The concept of mobile cloud computing
provides a brand new opportunity for the development of mobile communi-
cation technologies and applications since it allows the mobile devices to
maintain a very thin layer for user applications and shift the computation
and
processing overhead to the virtual environment.Mobile cloud computing based
on wireless communication will completely
transform the way mobile and technologies and applications are being deve-
loped, acquired, and used. However, mobile cloud computing is also facing
many challenges such as the dependency on continuous network connections,
data sharing applications and collaboration, and security. These problems
must be carefully investigated before mobile cloud computing can become
the next big thing. The mobile and wireless technologies market is about to
change radically,
from suppliers' standpoint and from the consumer access standpoint due to
the emergence of widgets, the most compelling of mobile cloud applications.
** Topic **The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- New architecture of mobile technologies and applications in cloud
computing
- Middleware technologies for mobile cloud computing
- Thin client layer on mobile devices like smartphone and tabletPC
- Delay tolerance technologies and applications for wireless communication
- Software structure for mobile cloud application
- Collaborative operations in mobile cloud computing
