CALL FOR PAPERS
2nd INT. WORKSHOP ON ADAPTIVE SERVICES FOR THE FUTURE INTERNET
WAS4FI 2012
Held in conjunction with ESOCC 2012
September 19, 2012, Bertinoro, Italy
http://was4fi.lcc.uma.es
Paper Submission Due: June 15, 2012
GOALS
=====
Future Internet has emerged as a new initiative topave anovel
infrastructure
linked to objects and things of the real world to meet the changing
global needs
of business and society.
Technologiessuch asthosebased on XML and RDF or OWL todescribedata and
semanticinformation,SOAP or RESTtodefineprotocols and BPEL or BPMNto
orchestratebusinessprocesses arebeing increasinglyused to specify Future
Internet services in a standardized manner, whichwill allow software and
data
nolongertobestoredand distributed onindividualcomputers.Instead,
multitenancywillenable their remote access asSoftware as a Service (SaaS),
evenbyperformingtheintegration intolargernetworksofcommunicating
software(e.g.,a mashup or a plug-into aCloud platform).Future Internet
applicationswill have tosupport theinteroperabilitybetweenmany diverse
stakeholders by governing the convergence and life-cycle of Internet of
Contents
(IoC),Services (IoS),Things (IoT),and Networks (IoN).Theseapplications
should handle dynamic and continuous changes:for instance, in the
provisioning
of services,availability ofthingsandcontents,connectivity of networks,
diversity of user devices and so on and so forth.
There is a need for both researchers and practitioners to develop
platforms made
up of adaptive Future Internetapplications. In this sense, the emergence and
consolidationofService-OrientedArchitectures(SOA),Cloud Computingand
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) rise benefits, such as flexibility,
scalability,
security, interoperability, and adaptability, for building these
applications.
Although there already are emerging solutions to host software services
and data
onremotecomputersandcreatepublicsensornetworksbyusingthese
technologies; the mentioned solutions employ simple technical approaches
related
to replication strategies to ensure availability and to achieve a
load-balancing
scalability.
The firstedition of WAS4FI 2011 was held in conjunction with ServiceWave
2011,
in Poznan,Poland,on 28th October 2011.In this secondedition,the aim of
WAS4FIisdrawingtogether the community inESOCC interestedinaddressing
different aspects related to adaptive Future Internet
applications,emphasizing
the importance of governingthe convergence of contents, services, things and
networks in order to achieve efficient, scalable, secure and adaptive
platforms
tobuildFutureInternetapplications.Inthisworkshop,wecoverthe
foundations of the aforementioned technologies as well as new emerging
proposals
with a relevant potential for Future Internet services. To promote
collaboration
theWAS4FIworkshophasahighlyinteractiveformat withshort technical
sessionscomplementedby discussionsaboutAdaptive Servicesin theFuture
Internet Applications.
