on the university's job offers website located at http://vub.talentfinder.be.

email: tjdhondt at vub.ac.be
Profile:
• Ph.D. in Computer Science.
• The candidate should be able to teach both in English and in Dutch. A candidate without knowledge of Dutch must be prepared to learn Dutch in a relatively short period.
• The applicant has to have outstanding academic credentials and an excellent publication record that demonstrate that the full depth of the software language engineering research stack is covered - specification through implementation.
• The applicant has to have experience with supervising Ph.D. and M.Sc. research and with managing research projects.
• Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
• The candidate is expected to endorse the educational vision of the university (full text available on the university web site).
• Every first appointment is dependent on the successful delivery of a teaching session.
Teaching:
The teaching load can include both teaching general Computer Science courses at the bachelor level and specialised, research related courses at the master level. The concrete list of courses will be negotiated based on the selected candidate’s expertise.
Research:
The selected candidate is expected to reinforce research at the Software Languages Lab (SOFT - http://soft.vub.ac.be)
In particular, we are looking for a candidate with expertise in one or more of the following topics: software languages for advanced modularisation; code analysis and manipulation; program comprehension and visualisation; software evolution and maintenance; software Development environments and tools. There is an explicit preference for candidates who apply the above in a modern application domain such as: mobile, ubiquitous and pervasive systems; complex event processing and reactive systems; distributed systems and cloud computing; parallel programming, multicore systems and exascale computing.
Research management:
The applicant will be involved in the management structure of the Software Languages Lab and is expected to contribute actively to operational aspects and the further development of the lab. This implies supervision of Ph.D. and M.Sc. students and launching and seeking financing for new research projects.
Job completion:
The opportunity exists to combine the 50% faculty position with a 50% senior research position on running projects such that the candidate has a full time position in the Software Languages Lab. Alternatively, the 50% faculty position can be combined with a position at another research lab as long as a sufficient availability of the candidate for the Software Languages Lab is guaranteed.
