Special Issue on “Recent Advances in Mobile and Wireless Networks”
Mobile and wireless networks are enabling a myriad of services and applications. For example, wireless hotspots are so widely deployed that access to the Internet is almost ubiquitous; people can work and play via Internet access no matter whether they are sitting on a terrace, travelling on a train, or flying in a plane. The explosive growth of applications for the current and emerging user services poses a number of challenges to this critical infrastructure. It also presents opportunities for research and innovation to both the academia and industry, especially for the development of efficiency, scalability and reliability in mobile and wireless networks. These challenges motivate us to design and develop new protocols, architectures and services for future mobile and wireless networks. The goal of this special issue is to publish both state-of-the-art and prospective papers that present advances towards the performance enhancement of mobile and wireless networks. In this context, papers will discuss all aspects that have an impact on the performance as depicted in research activities from professionals, academics and researchers. This special issue will be partially composed of the extended versions of the quality papers presented at the Special Session on Recent Issues in Mobile and Wireless Networks, the 2014 Global Wireless Summit (GWS 2014) at http://gws2014.org/.
Topics of interest with respect to mobile and wireless networks include but are not limited to the following:
Design and analysis of mobile and wireless networks
MAC protocol design
New mobile and wireless applications and network services
Multimedia over mobile and wireless networks
New trends on data gathering, processing, and communications
New trends on malicious behavior detection and analysis
QoS and QoE issues
Robustness and fault tolerance
Algorithms and techniques for efficient communications
Routing and data transport
Modeling and performance evaluation
Measurements and experience from experimental systems and test-beds
Integration of mobile and wireless networks and web-based services
Internetworking of mobile and wireless networks
Power consumption and optimization
Location discovery and location management
Data fusion and dynamic inference of network information
Green communications and networking
Authors should follow the Wireless Personal Communications Journal manuscript format described in the Instructions for Authors link on the journal site: http://www.springer.com/11277. During submission, please select the Article Type: “Special issue-MWN/GWS2014”. The submission must include the title, abstract of your paper, and the corresponding author's name and affiliation.
