On “Key Technologies for 5G, the Next Generation of Mobile Networks and
Services”

*Edited By: Professor Mohammad S. Obaidat, Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of SCS*



Following the great success of 2G and 3G mobile networks and the fast
growth of 4G, the 5th generation mobile networks or 5th generation wireless
systems (in short 5G) were proposed to offer “infinite” networking
capability and unrivalled user experiences for mobile users at any time and
in any places and situations. 5G systems aim to involve and benefit from
many current technical advances including massive dense networks,
Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV),
data mining, mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), cognitive radio, and so on.
Their development and deployment will also stimulate the evolution of many
existing technologies, such as social networking and cloud computing, as
well as Internet of Things (IoT). What are the key technologies to make 5G
fly? How can 5G stimulate our innovation? Without any doubt, 5G systems
introduce tremendous challenges in both research and development. This
special issue aims at providing a forum to discuss the perspective of 5G,
explore key 5G technologies, innovate new techniques and solutions for 5G
and investigate technology enablers and business aspects for the next
generation mobile networks and services.

·         Software defined networking and network functions virtualization

·         High speed transmission collaboration

·         MANET and pervasive computing for 5G

·         5G security and trust technologies

·         Mobile cloud computing/social computing and 5G

·         Data mining and its applications in 5G

·         Innovative 5G service platforms

·         Energy efficiency and 5G QoS

·         Cognitive radio with artificial intelligence and evolution

·         5G terminals

·         Experimental prototypes and results related to the above topics

·         Performance evaluation studies

Concerning the preparation of manuscripts, please refer to the “Author
Guidelines” page at the journal website,
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/jhome/5996. Manuscripts must be
submitted through the online submission system:
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/IJCS by selecting the “Special Issue Title”
“5GKeyTech”. Contributing authors may also be asked to review some of the
papers submitted to this special issue. All papers will be rigorously
reviewed by  at least three international experts.

Paper submission due:                               December 1st, 2014

Notification of decision:                               March 1st, 2015

Revision due:                                             April 1st, 2015

Acceptance notification:                             July 1st, 2015

Approximate publication date:                    Second half of 2015,
subject to journal publication schedules
