Postdoc, PhD and Programmer positions at SUCLAB KFU

The Social and Urban Computing Laboratory (SUCLab - http://kpfu.ru/eng/itis)
of KFU has several open positions for PhD students and postdocs in areas of
distributed computing, cyber physical systems, volunteer and crowd-based
computing, citizen science, Internet of Things, Big Data, software and
service engineering topics.

KFU, based in Kazan, Russia, is a well-funded University founded on the
international model and aiming to reach quickly the highest international
ranks.
KFU is one of the oldest universities in Russia, it celebrated its 210th
anniversary in 2014. KFU is a dynamic modern University actively engaged
into local and international cooperation and networking with academia and
industry providing the region's human resources development as well as
top-level research & innovation in unique subject areas.

ITIS, established in 2011, is one of the youngest and the most innovative
departments of KFU, mainly focusing on Information and Communication
Science and Technologies. Since the beginning, ITIS was supported by some
of the largest IT-companies in the world, such as Microsoft, Fujitsu,
Oracle, IBM, HP and Cisco, among others.

The SUCLab focuses on Social and Urban Computing, where multiple
heterogeneous technologies (Cloud infrastructure, Sensor Networks, IoT) and
approaches (Exascale computing, Big data, Crowdsourcing, collective
intelligence) are mixed into a crosscutting research area, bringing
together computer science, sociology, psychology, law, design, and
economics, just to name a few. It is headed by Prof. Salvatore Distefano.

Scholarships and benefits are on a par with the most attractive
international offerings. Numerous opportunities are available for
collaboration and exchanges with Politecnico di Milano, ETH, MIT, Duke and
other Universities worldwide. We are accepting applications from
enthusiastic students with a master's or equivalent, an excellent academic
record, and a passion for leading-edge research in the SUCLab topics. Both
theoretical computer science knowledge and in-depth programming experience
are useful. Positions are open to applicants from any country; Knowledge of
Russian is a plus but not required.
The working Language of the SUCLab is English.



Requirements:
Master Degree or equivalent
Excellent academic record on the topics of interests, PhD Degree (mainly
for Postdocs)
Good knowledge of English
