University of L'Aquila

Department of Information Engineering Computer Science and Mathematics

Software Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Group

Start date: April 1, 2017

Type of contract: Fixed term contract for 12 months. The contract can be
extended up to 24 months.

Gross salary: 32,000 EUR per Year

The SEA Group [1] investigates research topics related to Software
Engineering and Architecture, both from a functional and non-functional
viewpoint. The SEA Group is involved in several national and international
projects and has developed a solid research and development experience in
software engineering by mainly focusing on software architectures,
model-driven development, analysis and evolution of open source software,
component-based programming, internet-based programming, and verification
issues.

Subject:

The research will be done in the context of the H2020 European Project
CROSSMINER (Developer-Centric Knowledge Mining from Large Open-Source
Software Repositories) project [2]. The main objectives of the research
will be the development of techniques and tools for specifying, discovering
and representing in a homogeneous manner different open source project
relationships, based on extracted metrics and on similarity measures
underpinning the automated creation of project clusters. The output of all
CROSSMINER analysis tools and the monitored developer activities will be
stored in a knowledge base enabling innovative features e.g., automated
identification of complementary and competing projects, and project
incompatibilities. Moreover, they will provide developers with automatic
and real-time recommendations and prediction of the future of given
projects based on the evolution of other projects that had similar
characteristics in the past.

The successful candidates are expected to have a PhD degree in related
fields and a good publication record. Experience in collaborative research
projects and in supervising masters and undergraduate students will
constitute a preferential element.

Expertise in one of the following fields will be highly regarded: analysis
of open source software, mining of software repositories, open source
software development processes and technologies.

The working language will be English; knowledge of Italian is not required.

The position will be fixed-term for one year, renewable for an additional
period of another year. The starting date will be around April 1, 2017.

Inquiries and expressions of interest, including a curriculum vitae, a list
of publications (with a shortlist of the three most important papers), and
an outline of prospective research (no more than 2 pages) should be sent by
e-mail to Davide Di Ruscio (davide.diruscio at univaq.it).

Deadline for submissions: February 1, 2017 (submissions received after that
date are welcome and will be considered as long as the position will still
be available).
