One research post-doc position is available in the Research Program P2 -
Advanced computer and information systems of the NTIS research centre (
http://ntis.zcu.cz/en/o_centru/programy/) at the University of West
Bohemia, located in Pilsen, Czech Republic, for an enthusiastic individual
with the experience and interest in computer graphics, computational
geometry, software engineering, natural language processing, artificial
intelligence, data science, medical informatics, neuroinformatics, or an
area related.

The main role is to carry out innovative research in the field of computer
science and software engineering, having a potential to develop an
internationally leading profile in that field, with the focus on any of the
following particular research topics:

* Methods and tools for the static and-or dynamic verification of software
systems
Mentor: Assoc. Prof. Přemek Brada (brada at kiv.zcu.cz)
* Methods and models for a visual representation of subject-specific
muscles in motion
Mentor: Assoc. Prof. Josef Kohout (besoft at kiv.zcu.cz)
* Point-based and mesh-based geometric models and their visualization
Mentor: Prof. Ivana Kolingerová (kolinger at kiv.zcu.cz)
* Statistical methods and neural networks for natural language processing
with the stress on multilinguality
Mentor: Assoc. Prof. Pavel Král (pkral at kiv.zcu.cz)
* Methods for analysis of electrophysiological data
Mentor: Dr. Roman Mouček (moucek at kiv.zcu.cz)

Description of the work position:

Selected researchers will strengthen an existing top-quality research team
of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.  Their main tasks will be to
engage in the activities of the team under the guidance of a mentor and to
fulfill tasks specified by the R&D activity plan. Their own scientific work
will include publication of R&D results in prestigious foreign impact
journals, participation in major conferences, obtaining applied results,
involvement in national and international research projects, and
organization of the professional life at the workplace (seminars,
conferences).

Qualification requirements:

* a successfully completed doctoral study programme (in computer science or
other relevant discipline) at a university or institution of higher
learning in the Czech Republic (excluding  UWB) or abroad, with the date of
completion after 1 July 2011,
* good knowledge of the Czech or English language (CAE level or
equivalent),
* experience with research in the area of research the team focuses on.
Proficiency with at least one high-level programming language is required
(C++ is an advantage). The ability to communicate effectively and
collaborate within a team environment is also required.

The position offered is full-time for the period of up to 12 months.
Salary: 63 000 CZK gross monthly wage (approx. EUR 2450 / month).

Research Program P2 "Advanced computer and information systems" of the NTIS
research centre closely cooperates with the Department of Computer Science
and Engineering and its research groups (

Faculty of Applied Sciences, a research-oriented faculty offering a unique
blend of engineering and natural science disciplines in a modern
environment.  Pilsen is a pleasant city at the confluence of four rivers,
with well preserved medieval centre, rich cultural life, long tradition of
world-class industry and beer brewing, modern infrastructure, and easy to
reach countryside offering many opportunities for recreation.
