TWO TENURE-TRACK POSITIONS, IN COMPUTER SYSTEMS & HCI @ Université du Québec à Montréal

The department of computer science of the Université du Québec à Montréal (https://info.uqam.ca<https://info.uqam.ca/>) seeks highly qualified candidates for two tenure track positions in:



  1.  Computer Systems (CS) including, but not limited to : operating systems, computer systems architecture, programming language design, compilation, virtualization & storage systems, cybersecurity, and green IT.   2.  Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) including, but not limited to: analysis, design, development and evaluation of interactive software and devices; voice recognition; computer vision; haptics; augmented and virtual reality; visualization; ergonomy and accessibility; user experience; modeling, adaptation and personalization; intelligent interfaces and AI methods for HCI; digital & video games and interactive media; graphical, web and mobile interfaces. Exceptional candidates in related fields will be considered.


Professors are expected to: 1) conduct high-quality sustainably fundable research;  2) teach at the undergraduate, Master's and PhD levels; 3) supervise graduate students in one of three Master's programs in Computer Science, Data Science, and Software Engineering or three PhD programs in computer science, cognitive informatics, and mathematics; and 4) perform the usual administrative duties (curriculum committees, graduate student admissions committees, etc.). All new hires get start-up research funds, reduced teaching load and waivers of administrative duties for the first two years.



The computer science department has over 1300 students, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, millions of dollars in research funding, and 35 professors, doing research on various AI specialties (symbolic, machine learning, planning, etc.), bioinformatics, internet application engineering, microsystem design and manufacturing, telecommunications and embedded systems, and theoretical computer science.



The department of Computer Science is part of the Faculté des Sciences, which includes math, biology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental studies, and kinesiology, and is embedded in the heart of Montreal's cultural center (www.quartierdesspectacles.com), with lots to do around campus.
